Celebrating one of London’s proudest moments, the Museum of London, commissioned Casson Mann to conceptualize a Gallery specifically designed for Thomas Heatherwick’s design of the 2012 Olympic Cauldron, named “Designing a Moment: The London 2012 Olympic Cauldron”.
As a unique approach to this gallery, Panos Andrikopoulos, assigned to the lighting of this gallery a unique role: Instead of illuminating the exhibit, as it would normally do, lighting in the gallery became itself an exhibit alongside the Cauldron. Synchronized with VIdeo Projections next to the Cauldron, lighting in the gallery recreated this unique Moment of London’s history, sprinkling a little bit of the magic of the London Olympic Games and allowing visitors to experience the magic of Tim Routledge’s amazing original lighting design .
